What Is Kriya Yoga?

Kriya Yoga is an ancient, technique-based meditation path whose single aim is direct self-realization—the shift from identifying with restless thoughts (our ego) to resting in your natural inner peace (soul).

It works through conscious breath and the flow of life-force (prana) along the spine’s seven energy centers, using precise sequences that anyone can learn. 

This tradition traces back to Mahavatar Babaji, who re-introduced Kriya in the 19th-century Himalayas and passed it to Lahiri Mahasaya. From there the lineage flowed to Sri Yukteswar and, famously, to Paramahansa Yogananda, whose book Autobiography of a Yogi brought Kriya Yoga to the West. 

The full system contains several progressive levels; in this mini-course you’ll learn the first three core techniques—the exact same practices students have used for generations to calm the mind, balance the nervous system, and reconnect with the silent presence within.

I began meditating daily in 1992, at age 21, after an unexpected meeting with Oskar—a Norwegian yogi and mystic who opened my eyes to the path of self-realization.

Four years later I was initiated into Kriya Yoga of the Babaji tradition—made famous in the West by Paramahansa Yogananda’s classic Autobiography of a Yogi—by Swami Shankarananda Giri in Oslo. From the very first breath, Kriya felt like coming home; the deep peace I’d chased for years revealed itself as my natural state.

Between 2014 and 2018 I co-led retreats with my Kriya teacher Per H. Wibe, introducing students across Scandinavia to these life-changing techniques. In 2018 Per granted me full authorization to give Kriya initiations and teach the method independently.

Today I guide seekers worldwide, reminding each person that the silence you long for already lives inside you. Through Kriya Norge—and now this 3-Day Inner Peace course—I’m honored to hand you the same tools that transformed my life.
