What Is Kriya Yoga?
Kriya Yoga is an ancient, technique-based meditation path whose single aim is direct self-realizationâthe shift from identifying with restless thoughts (our ego) to resting in your natural inner peace (soul).
It works through conscious breath and the flow of life-force (prana) along the spineâs seven energy centers, using precise sequences that anyone can learn.Â
This tradition traces back to Mahavatar Babaji, who re-introduced Kriya in the 19th-century Himalayas and passed it to Lahiri Mahasaya. From there the lineage flowed to Sri Yukteswar and, famously, to Paramahansa Yogananda, whose book Autobiography of a Yogi brought Kriya Yoga to the West.Â

I began meditating daily in 1992, at age 21, after an unexpected meeting with Oskarâa Norwegian yogi and mystic who opened my eyes to the path of self-realization.
Four years later I was initiated into Kriya Yoga of the Babaji traditionâmade famous in the West by Paramahansa Yoganandaâs classic Autobiography of a Yogiâby Swami Shankarananda Giri in Oslo. From the very first breath, Kriya felt like coming home; the deep peace Iâd chased for years revealed itself as my natural state.
Between 2014 and 2018 I co-led retreats with my Kriya teacher Per H. Wibe, introducing students across Scandinavia to these life-changing techniques. In 2018 Per granted me full authorization to give Kriya initiations and teach the method independently.
